End of the Locker?

The object that featured so prominently in movies and T.V. shows of many of our youths is becoming a thing of the past. While decorating one’s locker was once a right of passage, apparently now that everything you need is kept on your back, students would rather charge their devices than stare at a cut-out picture of their favorite teen idol. As one school in Virginia removes lockers in favor of power outlets, whether or not this is a reasonable solution nationwide is up for debate. Metiri is curious to hear from educators in states where the phrase “snow day” is rarely uttered. Is removing lockers altogether viable in climates where winter wear includes coats, boots, hats, scarves, and gloves? Or will those of us in the snow belt need to come up with an alternative solution for students’ charging needs?
